What is AACA?

AACA is the Australian Association of Campus Activities, an organisation of event professionals who run social, cultural and recreational events on Australian University and TAFE campuses. AACA has grown out of a network of Campus Activities people that has been meeting on a regular basis since the 1970’s. AACA itself has existed for over 20 years, having built an impressive track record of running major national youth initiatives that attract significant sponsorship.

Who or what is eligible for AACA membership?

Membership is open to any tertiary programming body. That means if you work for a student Guild/Union or are employed by the tertiary institute to coordinates student events and activities, then your organisation is eligible for membership. Note: Staff themselves are not members, but represent their institute, who is the AACA member. If you are a student wishing to enter a program such as the National Campus Band Comp/ Art Prize/ Film Fest/ DJ Comp then you personally need not seek membership, but your campus must be a member for you to participate.

How much is membership?

A small fee is based on your student EFTSL (equivalent full-time student Loading). Fees are available at request from the AACA Treasurer .

What you get for your AACA Membership

The ability to participate in the following programs:
  • National Campus Band Comp
  • National Campus Film Festival
  • National Campus Art Prize
  • National Campus DJ Comp
  • Annual AACA Conference

Voting rights

Each member holds one vote. A member is considered to be a Uni/ TAFE/ campus/ organisation or an event group for tertiary students.

Admin assistance

Your membership pays for not only running the programs of AACA, but for AACA to look at other projects and opportunities for its members. Being events staff, you can appreciate the how much happens behind-the-scenes. Some of these expenses are as insurance, website administration and fees, database management, logistic fees (eg. transport), printing and stationary, creative design, advertising, sponsorship accrual, etc, etc. For AACA to continue, it is crucial for AACA small amount of money from membership is paid as AACA relies on it. There are hidden documents on our members site (only available to those logged in), such as How to run band comp? which assists you along your way if it’s your first time running one of the programs.
